Correct tightening torque is key to reliable torx joints. Too low causes loosening; too high yields or strips. Below are dry, unlubricated reference values; adjust for friction and design requirements.
M3 about 1.2-1.5 N·m, M4 about 2.7-3.2, M5 about 5.5-6.5, M6 about 9.5-11, M8 about 23-27, M10 about 46-52. Automated lines should use mid-range values and run CPK verification.
Stainless galling easily; recommended torque is about 60%-70% of carbon steel: M4 about 1.8-2.2, M5 about 3.8-4.5, M6 about 6.5-8. Use anti-seize and avoid repeated disassembly.
Torque is affected by coating, lubrication and clamped material. Critical joints should be validated by testing for target torque and angle, with periodic tool calibration.
