About torx screw

The official name of Torx is ISO10664 screw (corresponding to or internal Torx, also known as star socket screw). It is a kind of screw fastener developed and listed by Camcar Textron in 1967. Because Kangjia applied for a patent under the trade name of Torx, it is also known as a Torx screw. Torx screws are used in common automobile, motorcycle, bicycle brake systems, hard disks, computer systems and consumer electronics, including new energy, LED, medical, automation and other industries.
Product features:
The plum blossom design has a contact angle closer to 90 degrees than the hexagonal head, so the potential destructive radial force is much smaller under the same torque. This feature allows the screw head to be made smaller under the same torque, with the advantage of reducing space. But the disadvantage of older heads is that the smaller the internal "star", the easier it is to corrode and cause the plum blossom screwdriver to slide and damage the head, making it more difficult to remove than traditional hexagonal bolts
Design principle:
According to the design, the protrusion deviation of the plum head screw will be better than that of the Phillips head screw or the straight head screw. Philippe head screws are designed to allow the screwdriver protrusion to deviate to prevent over tightening, while torx head screws are designed to prevent the screwdriver protrusion from deviating. This design change comes from the widespread use of automatic torque control screwdrivers used in factories. The torque control screwdriver can be designed to stably provide a predetermined torque, rather than relying on tools to slide out the screw head after reaching a certain torque, risking damage to the screwdriver tip, screw head, or even the workpiece.
The design of the plum blossom head can apply higher torque than a typical hexagonal screw head of similar size, without damaging the screw head and/or tools. Generally, the interaction between the male/female parts of the hexagon screw head and the Torx head. The gap between components was exaggerated for clarity
Product structure:
There is a kind of security Torx, tamper resistant Torx (often referred to as Torx TR) or protruding Torx. The convex point located in the center of the screw head can prevent the insertion of standard Torx screwdriver (or slotted screwdriver).
The other version is called outer Torx. Its screw head is in the shape of a Torx driver and is rotated with a torx sleeve. The standard size "E" of the external quincunx is incompatible with the size "T" of the standard quincunx, (for example, an E40 socket is too large for the head of T40, while the E8 quincunx socket can fit with the T40 quincunx)
